General Internship Marketing

Start date: ASAP
For the moment this is a part-time unpaid internship. Depending on how it works out and the scope of work there is opportunity for growth.

Duties and responsibilities of the position
The responsibility of the intern will be to support the founder in all marketing activities relating to a project focusing on Music Education and commerce.

This will include:

  • Researching facts and statistics on music/arts education in the US
  • Working with the founder on ideation of marketing programs and campaigns
  • Content creation for marketing programs such as social media and blogs

The first major task will be charity related research looking at facts and statistics.
With the preliminary research we have conducted, it seems like the hardest question to answer in the music education world is “the why”. In marketing, “the why” is the magic that gets people emotionally involved in a cause or company and converts them into customers. A great explanation of this concept is a Ted talk by Simon Sinek. (http://goo.gl/uJNRdN ) He explains why a company like Apple was so successful and why Steve Jobs was such a marketing genius.

For children who need the motivation and inspiration, Music is the magic bullet. The main priority at the moment is to spell out “the why” so that we may create an effective campaign to engage consumers and the public in the importance of music education initiatives for kids.

Qualifications of the ideal candidate:

  • Strong research skills
  • Extremely analytical and good with numbers
  • Experience or passion for marketing and social media
  • Creative ability to think outside the box regarding content and/or strategy
  • Passion for music education or arts education causes
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to stick to deadlines and deliverables
  • Passion for music
  • A dreamer
